Lincoln Film Review Paraphrase Practice
"As Lincoln, Daniel Day-Lewis is excellent: he has the president's famous height, and his reedy, hushed manner of speaking. Apparently, Lincoln used to drive his colleagues mad with his odd sense of humour and his long stories, just as we see in the film. We also get a much more rounded picture than usual of Lincoln's wife, Mary Todd. She's notorious for being on the far side of sane – she's reputed to have thrown crockery at Lincoln – and for spending pots of money. Sally Field shows her as a much more complex person, who had suffered real loss in the death of their son Willie."
Daniel Day-Lewis's performance as Lincoln was nothing but amazing. A major part of the character Lincoln is his very tall height and his quiet tone of speaking, Daniel checks off both boxes when it comes to his performance of Lincoln. The film did a fantastic job of portraying Lincolns sense of humor and his story telling abilities, the movie also did a great job showing Lincolns colleagues views and frustrations when it comes to his stories. The audience gets an amazing picture of Lincolns wife, Mary Todd, as a whole and not just the well known partly insane side of her. She is known to have done multiple things to Lincoln including throwing things at him and going on large spending sprees, but Sally field did an amazing job showing Mrs. Lincoln as a more complete person who has gone through many hardships in life including the death of their son Willie.
very tall height- too similar
ReplyDeleteand u don't have to repeat the film the film the film
the sentence structures are the same but swapped around with really similar words
really basic language- i would use more vocabulary like words to sound really smart like try to be really formal
The structure of the second sentence is too similar to the original author's, the only thing changed being a few adjectives to close synonyms such as "hushed" to "quiet". Also, when talking about Mary Todd's habits, I feel that lots of the words and phrases are too close such as "spending pots of money" to "spending large amounts of money". The last sentence also uses almost the same structure. But finally, the author of the original excerpt was never referred to during the paraphrase or cited.
